But he DID ask. When you click on Dave’s planet, he asks Karkat where he’s at. What he’s asking there is how do you know I’m with KANAYA- Because he’s talking with her at THE SAME TIME.

Now, when you click on Jade’s planet KANAYA asks how he knew what planet they’re on. He knew because HE ASKED KARKAT WHERE THEY’RE AT RIGHT THERE IN THE CONVO PICTURED ABOVE

Let me reinstate. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY- HE ASKS WHERE THEY WERE AT AND KARKAT ONLY ASKS HIM HOW DO YOU KNOW I’M WITH KANAYA- NOT THE PLANET, KANAYA. HE KNOWS BECAUSE HE’S TALKING WITH HER AT THE SAME TIME.

KANAYA IS THE ONE WHO ASKS HIM HOW HE KNEW WHAT PLANET THEY’RE ONE- KARKAT HERE CLEARLY TELLS HIM.

Yes, Karkat tells Dave that HE is on lofaf, but he never says the he’s with Kanaya. When he asks Karkat about Kanaya, Karkat responds with the:

TG: how long have you and kanaya been on lofaf 
CG: HOW DO YOU KNOW I’M HERE WITH KANAYA? 
TG: talkin to her rn

But, in Dave’s conversation with Kanaya when he asks how long Kanaya has been on lofaf, you get the other response set:

TG: so you have no idea how you got to lofaf then 
GA: How Do You Know Im On Lofaf 
TG: im talking to karkat

The point is, neither of them said that they were with the other troll, and that is the lapse in narrative that everyone is questioning.

Holy crap it’s time for another giveaway!

So we’ve seen people complaining that Hussie is racist or something because all tricksters are canonically Caucasian, and we’ve seen the intelligent Homestucks call bullshit, but nobody seems to realize some of the other story-wise implications of that.

Only humans can be Caucasian. But far as we know, and as is implied by some of Calliope’s explanations of her juju, anyone can engage trickster mode.

Homestuck vs The Neverending Story

One thing I’m really interested in the current Homestuck/Neverending Story situation is whether or not Hussie’s read the book. Because the movie’s just adapted from half of the book. In the movies the boy shouts the Empress’s name and Fantasia resets and he gets to ride around on Falcor, which is what we see Hussie drawing himself doing.

But in the book, which was originally done in red and green ink, if I remember right, the story keeps going. After Bastian renames the Childlike Empress —he’s not calling out her name, he’s specifically renaming her, and he gives her the name of his mother, who died— this basically reboots a fresh new version of Fantastica, and he wakes up there himself. And then he has to find a way to get back before he forgets everything. The more heroic he becomes in Fantastica, through his series of quests and adventures, the more he loses his identity as just the normal boy he was in the real world. 

So— with all the elements of empresses and fantasy and self-insertion where we see characters are themselves taking part in each other’s stories and the fact that just shouting Calliope’s name isn’t cutting it and she might actually need a new name and she’s the Muse of Space and Jake and Jane are having their heads fucked with and everyone is in each other’s stories: shit is getting really interesting. And I really hope Hussie’s read the book.
